Signage and printing specialists, and ISA_UK Member, Allen Signs is capping off a successful year of fundraising by donating 3,000 sheets of festive wrapping paper in aid of St Barnabas Hospice.
The company, based on Whisby Way in Lincoln, has teamed up with the Waterside Shopping Centre after it invited St Barnabas to raise money for their cause by wrapping shoppers’ presents in return for a donation.
Allen Signs has printed three different types of paper in turquoise, dark blue and red. The paper was designed by the company’s in-house team and features the logos of St Barnabas, the Waterside Centre and Allen Signs.
1,500 metres of paper was printed in total on 100gsm stock with a silk finish.
Glen Merryweather, Director at Allen Signs, said: “We’ve done a lot of fundraising this year, so it was a no-brainer for us to cap it off by supporting St Barnabas this Christmas.
“1,500 metres of wrapping paper is the same length as 75 double decker buses, so we’ve made sure they have enough paper to raise a significant sum.
“I hope people lend their support because St Barnabas is a fantastic charity. We will be down there helping to wrap the presents too.”
As well as providing the charity with 3,000 sheets of wrapping paper for free, Allen Signs has also donated a Santa sleigh, a cardboard Christmas tree and will send staff to the centre to help wrap presents.
Dean Cross, Manager at the Waterside Shopping Centre, said: “For as long as I have been at the centre, we’ve offered to wrap people’s presents in return for a donation to charity. This year, I wanted to make it a little bit different and even more special.
“When I had the idea of using unique wrapping paper, I approached Allen Signs, as they’ve done a lot of work for us over the years. They have come up with a great design and printed it in three colours, which all look great.”
Caroline Swindin, Corporate Fundraiser at St Barnabas, commented: “Christmas is a magical time of the year, and we are very grateful to the Waterside Centre and Allen Signs who’ve come together to deliver this fantastic, time-saving idea.
“Wrapping presents can be really frustrating if you’re not very good at it, so this will save people time and make their gifts look amazing. All of the money raised will go towards helping people over Christmas and beyond.”
Earlier this year, some of the team at Allen Signs helped to raise over £4,000 for the children’s ward at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham by hiking Britain’s tallest three peaks.
