Investment supports greater demand for wider width jobs

Signs Express (Nottingham) has invested in an Epson SureColor SC-S80600 to streamline production, enhance efficiency and elevate quality.

Signs Express (Nottingham) is a franchisee in the Signs Express group that was established more than 30 years ago and is now the largest sign company in the UK and Ireland with more than 65 branches.

The operation was established seven years ago and has built up a diverse and prestigious local and national client base. It includes some of Nottingham’s most successful businesses and organisations such as Nottingham Trent University and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.

It has been enjoying an increase in demand for wider width work which drove the decision to invest in an Epson SureColor SC-S80600.

Mikey Walker, workshop and fabrications manager, explains: “Our previous Roland VersaWorks 540 printer could print widths up to 1250mm but that meant there were joins in any printed panels larger than the 1250mm. So, we looked around at other printers with a larger bed. We chose the Epson SureColor SC-S80600 after it was recommended by another Signs Express franchise.”

Signs Express’s 64-inch Epson SureColor SC-S80600 system features a combined precision media feeding system and high-performance Dual-Array PrecisionCore® TFP print head, that supports enhanced productivity. Its uses Epson UltraChrome® GS3 9-color solvent ink – including a red solvent along with the option for white or metallic silver inks – for outstanding photographic print quality, durability, and media compatibility.

Mikey says: “The main advantage for us was the fact the Epson prints on media up to 1550mm wide which is now a staple of our production. It is a lot quicker with the double heads fitted and its multiple pass modes. Also important was the fact it had the front and back take up rollers as standard.”

The results possible also spoke for themselves. He adds: “We were impressed with the print quality and the ink usage. Its ease of use makes a big difference, too, and I have personally found that the cleaning modes and heating times are a lot better now.”

As for the impact it is making Mikey states: “Since it was installed, we have found it to be just what we wanted in a printer. The quality is superior and the setup to print time has improved greatly.”

Signs Express’s Epson SureColor SC-S80600 was supplied by RGB UK. Marketing Director, Chris Hope says: “Signs Express’s requirements included an outdoor signage capable printer that could deliver high-quality output at hi volume production. The SureColor SC-S80600 met every need with ease; in particular, the colour matching and speed capabilities. The SureColor SC series allows us to continue offering customers an excellent performing printer with the levels of support and service expected.”
