William Smith offers the re-engineered Avery Dennison MPI 1103 EA Smart Wrap+

A reworked adhesive brings lower initial tack and improved repositioning to one of the busiest cast films in the digital range

Avery Dennison has updated one of the most widely used films in its digital range. The MPI 1103 EA Smart Wrap+, available immediately from William Smith, retains the 50 micron white cast construction that many installers are already familiar. In addition, it now includes a re-engineered adhesive that grips less on first contact and releases more readily when a panel needs repositioning. The result is more time to align a graphic and less time spent correcting it.

For anyone who installs on warm surfaces, the benefit is clear. The previous 1103 held firm the moment it made contact, which suits a clean first pass but offers little margin for error. The new adhesive delivers lower initial tack and better repositionability, allowing the film to be moved back into position with light pressure rather than lifted away and reapplied. On complex surfaces, that single change removes a meaningful share of the application time.

What has changed under the liner

The construction remains familiar. It is a 50-micron white, digitally printable cast wrapping film with a grey adhesive that provides good opacity and is printable on all main digital ink systems, including Latex, UV and Eco-Solvent. The change is between the film and the liner. Avery Dennison has reworked the adhesive and paired it with a revised liner and its Easy Apply technology, so the film applies cleanly and repositions without resistance during installation.

“Every installer has had the moment when the film lands slightly out of position and refuses to move. This version provides a brief window to lift and realign it, and across a full vehicle those seconds add up to real time saved,” says Lindsay Hutchinson, Head of Marketing, William Smith Group 1832.

Built for demanding installations

The film is designed for demanding installations rather than flat panels. Avery Dennison highlights full vehicle wraps on fleet cars, vans and trucks, as well as surfaces with deep channels, corrugationsand rivets, where the high 3D conformability allows installers to work without incisions or primers. For outdoor advertising on curved surfaces, the same durability supports longer promotional runs. Fewer failed panels also mean fewer offcuts, which protects the margin on a job as much as it protects the schedule.

“We expect this to become a popular choice for installers who spend their days on curves and rivets rather than on flat sides. It takes a film the trade already trusts and makes the most difficult part of the work considerably easier,” Lindsay concludes.
