BSGA Joins the Trade Association Forum:

I am delighted to announce that the British Sign and Graphics Association (BSGA) has joined the Trade Association Forum (TAF), strengthening its connection within the wider UK trade association community and expanding our network beyond our own industry.

TAF is the UK’s “association of associations”, bringing together more than 180 trade associations from across our economy. It provides a forum for associations to share experience and discuss the challenges we face, whilst encouraging the development and sharing of best practice and promoting the role of effective trade associations to government, industry and the wider public.

Just as we encourage our own members to share their knowledge and experience, I believe it is important that the BSGA does the same beyond our own sector. Engaging with organisations from different industries allows us to see how others approach areas such as member engagement, governance, communication and the delivery of value. Whilst the industries represented may be very different, the principles of running an effective membership organisation are often shared. For the BSGA, having access to those different perspectives will help us reflect on our own approach as the Association continues to evolve.

For me, there is real value in stepping outside our usual operating environment and hearing how others approach the challenges they face. Not everything will be relevant to the BSGA, but there will be experiences and ideas that can influence our thinking about how we operate and support our members. I look forward to building those relationships and seeing where those conversations take us.

There is also value in being able to benchmark our own approach to governance and compliance against the experience of other associations. This gives us another perspective on how we operate and provides an opportunity to reflect on where we can continue to develop.

TAF also gives the BSGA an opportunity to champion our sector beyond the signage and graphics industry. I look forward to making the most of that opportunity and ensuring that signage and graphics has a voice in the conversations that matter.
