BSGA Members in Action: September Winner Announced!

We are delighted to announce that CRE-8-IVE Signs & Graphics have been selected as the September winner of BSGA Members in Action, our initiative created to recognise and champion the outstanding work delivered across our diverse membership community.

The winning project, delivered by CRE-8-IVE Signs & Graphics (Glasgow) for a newly opened independent grocery store in Largs, located on the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire, demonstrates the range of signage techniques, skill and knowledge bases brought together within a single project.

James Morgan, the owner of the store, invested £250,000 to transform the former Farmfoods into a modern local grocery store. The new premises includes a 300 sq ft beer cave, an inhouse preparation kitchen and a hot food deli, creating a significant transformation of the former retail unit. With the store offering a much broader proposition to the local community, the signage formed an important part of establishing the new identity and bringing the different areas of the premises together.

CRE-8-IVE was responsible for both the internal and external signage across the store. The project incorporated window graphics, 3D letters, illuminated light boxes and roof suspended built up aluminium letters, bringing together a range of signage formats and fabrication techniques. Every element was designed and manufactured by the CRE-8-IVE team at its workshop in Paisley, Glasgow.

CRE-8-IVE describes itself as a bespoke commercial signage company, providing consultancy and in-house design services to develop signage solutions for its clients. The company places a strong emphasis on quality and its “extra mile” approach, working with clients throughout a project to deliver the finished result.

The project was selected for the way CRE-8-IVE considered the signage within its setting. The coastal location, supporting repurposing of an existing commercial unit and the creation of a new independent retail identity all formed part of the brief. The finished scheme brings the different signage applications together to provide a consistent look and feel across the premises, whilst making effective use of CRE-8-IVE’s in house design and fabrication capabilities.

Projects such as this also reflect the wider principles behind the BSGA’s Five C’s – Champion, Collaboration, Communication, Community and Compliance. They demonstrate the importance of working collaboratively, communicating effectively, maintaining professional standards and delivering work safely and to the required specification. Through our Member in Action initiative, we want to recognise the skill, professionalism and commitment demonstrated by our members across projects of all sizes and types.

Members are encouraged to showcase their achievements by posting projects on social media, tagging @BSGA and using #PostYourProject. This helps highlight industry expertise, provides recognition, and supports the sharing of best practice across the sector.

Each month, the Board of Directors selects a standout project based on quality, adherence to best practice, and overall competence demonstrated. Monthly winners will be entered into the annual review, where one member will be named BSGA Member in Action Champion 2026, recognising exceptional creativity, professionalism, and contribution to the industry.

We look forward to seeing more outstanding work shared throughout the year!
