BSGA Members in Action: August Winner Announced!

We are delighted to announce that Astley have been selected as the August winner of BSGA Members in Action, our initiative created to recognise and champion the outstanding work delivered across our diverse membership community.

The winning project, delivered by Astley for JET Glendower in Torquay, demonstrates the planning, coordination and technical expertise required to deliver a complete forecourt transformation while maintaining a consistent brand identity.

Astley has worked with JET since 2005, supporting the brand across more than 300 sites and delivering signage for new builds, refurbishments and existing station refreshes. This long standing relationship has required the team to manage projects across a wide range of locations and site requirements, while maintaining consistency in design, manufacture and installation.

The Glendower project involved a complete forecourt transformation, with Astley managing the process from initial design and manufacturing through to installation. The finished site delivers a refreshed JET identity across the forecourt, creating a strong and consistent presence throughout the customer environment.

The wider JET programme has involved a range of technical and operational considerations. In 2018, Astley won the tender to support the development and prototyping of a new forecourt design, including the construction of a mini forecourt to allow finish, illumination and colour matching to be assessed across multiple substrates before wider implementation.

The team has also delivered large scale LED conversion work, converting 400 JET totem signs within six months. This required detailed planning and coordination to deliver a significant volume of work while maintaining consistency across the estate.

As the forecourt environment continues to change, Astley has also supported JET’s EV proposition, JET Charge, providing branding for ultra-rapid charging points and associated retail areas. Alongside this, the company provides ongoing installation and maintenance support across the estate.

Working within active forecourt environments also brings additional operational and safety considerations. Astley’s installation and maintenance teams are certified and approved to work on forecourts, with industry accreditations including SPA Passports.

The completed Glendower project is another example of how careful planning, skilled manufacture, professional installation and effective coordination combine to deliver a consistent signage solution across a demanding operational environment.

Projects such as this also reflect the wider principles behind the BSGA’s Five C’s – Champion, Collaboration, Communication, Community and Compliance. They demonstrate the importance of working collaboratively, communicating effectively, maintaining professional standards and delivering work safely and to the required specification. Through our Member in Action initiative, we want to recognise the skill, professionalism and commitment demonstrated by our members across projects of all sizes and types.

Members are encouraged to showcase their achievements by posting projects on social media, tagging @BSGA and using #PostYourProject. This helps highlight industry expertise, provides recognition, and supports the sharing of best practice across the sector.

Each month, the Board of Directors selects a standout project based on quality, adherence to best practice, and overall competence demonstrated. Monthly winners will be entered into the annual review, where one member will be named BSGA Member in Action Champion 2026, recognising exceptional creativity, professionalism, and contribution to the industry.

We look forward to seeing more outstanding work shared throughout the year!
