Orca Baleares Signs instructed Applelec to create polished stainless steel branding with LED illumination for luxury Mediterranean yacht, Emotion. Selecting the Premium built-up letter range, two logos feature white LEDs and one dramatic logo for the stern employs colour-changing LEDs programmed to glow red and warm white.

Naturally, the location of the signage was crucial in panning and designing the build of the letters which were created in stainless steel with a 316 grade. Selected due to its suitability for marine locations, stainless steel of this grade provides resistance to the pitting and crevice corrosion of chloride environments. The built-up lettering features a flat-face and was created in Applelec’s Premium range with a mirror polished finish.
Following the construction of the metal letters, LEDs were inserted to provide halo illumination to each of the signs, with warm white LEDs used for the port and starboard side branding and colour-changing red and warm white LEDs for the stern. The letters were then potted in a process which involves filling each built-up letter with water resistant glue that sets around the LED modules to create a sealed, waterproof, illuminated letter whilst not compromising the thermal properties of the LED. Finally, additional sealing was applied to the tough polycarbonate back trays before the branding was shipped to Mallorca for installation.

The variety of techniques used to create the identity signage ensures the branding will be fit for forthcoming cruises around the Mediterranean on the luxurious yacht which features three entertainment decks, a 100 square metre sun deck, Jacuzzi, spa and an air conditioned gymnasium.
