Allen Signs Points the Way to a Successful College Career

It’s hoped a new signage scheme manufactured and installed by Allen Signs will inspire students at Lincoln College to aim higher.

The college on Monks Road wanted to create a more exciting learning environment and designed a series of wayfinding signs, infographics, interactive notice boards and internal wall graphics featuring images and quotes from famous people.

Sean Matthews from Lincoln College explained: “The brief was to improve the appearance of the hallways and stairwells so that they look neater and less cluttered. We stripped everything off the walls and set about condensing all the information into a few key messages.

“We also wanted to give the students the opportunity to have their say which was the inspiration behind the interactive notice boards.

“As well as inspirational quotes from the likes of Winston Churchill, Banksy and Jessica Ennis we’ve also included stats on careers and employability. By highlighting the job opportunities available and demonstrating the achievements of recent college graduates we hope current students will feel more motivated and determined to succeed.

“We’re really pleased with the end results and have received lots of positive feedback from staff, students and visitors to the college.”

Altogether Allen Signs produced and installed 1,000 metres of print, 50 8ft x 4ft 3D panels and 20 signwritten mirrors across the campus over a four-week period.

Director at Allen Signs Glen Merryweather said: “The main challenge with this project was the tight timescale. Lincoln College wanted the work completing during the holiday period when the students weren’t there and with the volume of print required it was always going to be close to the wire!

“However, thanks to a combined effort from our production, installation and account management teams we completed the project for the client on time as planned.”
