Octink renew CommunityMark status

CommunityMark recognises those businesses leading the way in community investment and integrating it into core business strategy. CommunityMark holders prioritise the most pressing, business-relevant issues in the community, and make a measurable difference across the spectrum of responsible business behaviour: from helping disadvantaged people into employment or supporting social enterprises to compete for business, to building long term partnerships with schools. It is endorsed by HRH The Prince of Wales.

Octink was first awarded the CommunityMark in 2009, and is part of a growing network of 40 businesses who have collectively; invested £581 million in their communities in 2012; engaged one in three employees in community programmes, supported over

5,000 vulnerable people into employment and worked with nearly 1 million young people across a range of programmes.

Managing Director, Mike Freely was presented with the CommunityMark by Prime Minister David Cameron at Business in the Community’s National Gala Dinner at the Royal Albert Hall, supported by the 2012 Responsible Business of the Year Marks & Spencer, on 2 July 2013.

Commenting, Stephen Howard, Business in the Community’s Chief Executive said: “I congratulate Octink for continuing to be part of the growing network of CommunityMark companies today. Business has a vital role to help create vibrant and prosperous communities. CommunityMark holders are at the heart of this movement, demonstrating an impressive commitment to identifying and responding to social needs. Crucially, these companies understand that excellence in community investment not only has a positive and valuable impact on society, but also creates real business benefits, and Octink continues to demonstrate this. We hope their example will inspire many more businesses to put responsible behaviour at the heart of how they do business.”
