This September, Signbox is proud to celebrate its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of design-led, technically advanced signage solutions that have helped shape some of the UK’s most iconic environments.
Founded in 1985 by Mark Bartlett and Matt Wilkins, Signbox began with a clear vision: to raise the standard of architectural signage by combining intelligent design with exceptional craftsmanship. Today, the Surrey-based company is recognised as one of the UK’s leading architectural signage specialists, with projects spanning London, the UK, and international markets.
Over the past four decades, Signbox has delivered award-winning solutions for some of the world’s most recognisable brands and organisations. Its portfolio includes standout projects for Deloitte University EMEA, New Scotland Yard, British Airways, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Hachette UK, to name just a few. With 33 industry awards under its belt, Signbox’s commitment to creativity, precision, and innovation is well established.
To celebrate the milestone, the Signbox team closed the office early on Friday 5th September to spend the afternoon at the Thorpe Watersports Aquapark – an opportunity to step away from the workshop, enjoy some well-earned fun, and reflect on the achievements that have brought the business to this point.
Mark Bartlett, Managing Director, commented:
“Reaching 40 years in business is a remarkable achievement, and it’s all down to the dedication of our team and the trust of our clients, suppliers and partners. Every project we’ve delivered has been a step on the journey, and while we’re proud to look back on what we’ve achieved, we’re even more excited about what lies ahead.”
As the built environment continues to evolve, Signbox remains focused on the future, with ongoing investment in digital capabilities, sustainability, and smarter materials and processes. The company’s goal is to continue pushing the boundaries of what signage can achieve – whether guiding people through a space, reinforcing a brand identity, or integrating cutting-edge digital technology.
The 40th anniversary is not just a celebration of Signbox’s history, but also a statement of intent for the decades ahead.
