Nova Aluminium Systems: a legacy of innovation, family, and quality

Nova Aluminium Systems began in 2005 with a clear focus on quality, reliability, and great service. What started as a small team with a passion for aluminium systems has grown into a well-respected name in the industry. Years of hard work, hands-on experience, and a dedication to getting the job done right have shaped Nova into the business it is today.

Lisa Sperring and Paul Harvey

Paul Harvey and Paul Vickery, two of the original five founders, put their years of industry knowledge into shaping Nova. As the business evolved, some of the original directors moved on, but the focus on quality and innovation remained rock solid.

Always moving forward
From day one, Nova has believed in reinvesting in the business. Every year, new machinery, vehicles, and technology are brought in to make things better and faster. Today, Nova runs out of a 40,000-square-foot facility, with a team of 50 and a fleet of modern vehicles delivering over 90% of finished goods directly to customers.

“We’re always looking at ways to improve,” says Paul Harvey. “Keeping up with technology isn’t a luxury; it’s what allows us to keep delivering the best to our customers.”

With advanced CNC routers, double mitre saws, and one of the longest powder-coating ovens in the Bristol area, Nova is set up for precision and efficiency.

The next generation steps up

It’s not just about the equipment; it’s about the people. In 2019, Paul Harvey’s son Ben joined the company, getting his hands dirty in transport before moving into the glazing department, where he built a strong team. More recently, Paul’s eldest son, Jamie, came on board, bringing his electrician’s skills to the signage department.

“We’ve always been hands-on, and that’s what I love about this place,” says Ben. “You get stuck in, learn the ropes, and find ways to make things better.”

Jamie agrees: “It’s not just about following in Dad’s footsteps. It’s about bringing new ideas and pushing the business forward. We’re always looking for ways to improve, whether it’s wiring photocells into lightboxes or installing new systems.”

Why being a BSGA member matters

Nova has been a proud member of the BSGA for years, and it’s made a real difference. Being part of a respected trade body means staying connected to the industry, keeping up with best practices, and giving customers confidence in who they’re working with.

“BSGA membership has been invaluable,” says Paul. “It helps us stay ahead of industry changes, build relationships with other professionals, and show our customers we take our work seriously.”

Looking ahead

With 20 years under its belt, Nova isn’t slowing down. From its best-selling NovaComp fascia frame to the latest innovations in flex face signage, the company continues to evolve. The next generation is stepping up, the technology is getting sharper, and the commitment to quality is stronger than ever.

“We’re all about making great products and building something that lasts,” says Paul. “And with the team we’ve got, the future looks bright. Here’s to the next 20 years of Nova Aluminium Systems – still growing, still innovating, and still keeping customers at the heart of everything we do.”
